Mission Trip Opportunity for Teens- Summer 2013!
Our Sr. High Youth are hitting the road July 13- 20 for an unforgettable mission trip to West Virginia. We have partnered with West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy & Workcamps, Inc. who is supported by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and the Presbytery of West Virginia. This is the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life (including your own!) by helping to restore homes, buildings, playgrounds and streams that have been devasted by natural disasters or poverty. But it’s not all just hammers and nails. You’ll also have the opportunity to minister to the people you are serving as well as work with a dedicated group of kids like yourself. It’s rewarding, challenging and fun too! For more info, contact Dave Barone, Youth Director at 973-896-4104, youth@fpcsparta.org or Bob Forrester 973-809- 0119, beforr@earthlink.net. Age range is 8th grade on up with a limited number of opportunities for adult leader volunteers.
Other info:
- Activities include home repair and reconstruction, deconstruction, playground restoration, parks cleanup, stream bank stabilization, and Vacation Bible Schools, among other things.
- Cost: We’re asking $50-75 per youth (actual rate TBD). Students will be asked to help raise the rest of the funds through various fundraising activities.
- Actual location in West Virginia: TBD. WVMAW will assign us a location based on the number of people in our group as well as the skills in our group.
- Wednesday will be an off day to enjoy an activity in the local area such as rock climbing or rafting.
