Youth Activities

Hi I am Dave Barone and I am your Youth Director at The First Presbyterian Church of Sparta!
Here are some things about me that I would like to share with you:
I first heard about the position from a good friend, whose parents are longtime members here. I have a Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts with a background and training in Youth Ministry.  I spent three years in New Zealand volunteering with, “Youth With a Mission.” I also worked at a Christian Organization called “Summit Adventure,” guiding backpacking trips and rock-climbing trips in California.
My heart has always been in ministry and the Lord has given me a deep care and love for youth.   

My Statement of Faith

I believe…
That the Bible is the inerrant Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit as the primary source of revelation to mankind.
That Christ was fully God and fully man, tempted in every way and yet sinless.
That Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, died on the cross to make atonement for the sins of all who believe, was resurrected after three days in the grace and ascended to the right hand of God to act as our mediator.
That the Gospel is the free gift of salvation for all who put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
That Christ will return to judge the world and to establish his eternal Kingdom.
That mankind is fallen through the sin of Adam and is unable in his own ability to live a righteous life acceptable to God. It is only through faith in the sacrifice of Christ that mankind is clothed in His righteousness and restored into proper relationship with God.
That the Holy Spirit indwells all true believers from the time of conversion, empowering them to live a life pleasing to God.
That every believer is called to some form of service in the ministry of the church as it spreads the Gospel and brings restoration and healing.
